Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This policy explains what data our apps use, why, and the choices you have. We've tried to keep it short and plain.
The short version
- Most of your data stays on your phone.
- There are no accounts. We don't ask for your name or email to use the app.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads.
- Some features need to send data to online services to work. We only keep that data if you say yes to “Help improve recipes”.
- You can change your mind any time.
Who we are
CherryMesh apps are made by Cherry Mesh Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15077361). Registered office: 164 Blundell Road, Edgware, HA8 0JH, England.
We are the “controller” of your data under UK data protection law.
Contact: support@cherrymesh.uk
Data kept only on your phone
This includes your pantry, meal plans, favourites, shopping lists, and taste profile (such as diet, likes, dislikes and allergies).
We can't see this data. Deleting the app deletes it.
Voice commands while cooking and spoken recipe steps are handled on your phone. That audio is not sent to us.
Data sent to online services
Some features need help from online services to work.
| Feature | What is sent |
|---|---|
| Making recipes and meal plans | Your request, plus the pantry items and taste profile needed for it |
| Adding pantry items by voice | Your voice while you're speaking, to turn it into text |
| AI chef video call | Your voice, your camera (only if you turn it on), and the recipe you're cooking |
| Recipe pictures | The name and description of a meal, to find a matching picture |
AI chef calls last up to 2 minutes and are not recorded. Your camera is off until you turn it on.
Unless you turn on “Help improve recipes”, we don't keep any of this data after your request is done.
Technical data
To keep our service safe and stop abuse, your phone also sends:
- A random ID made by the app when you first open it. It is not linked to your name, email or phone number.
- The app version and phone type (iPhone or Android).
- A security check that the request comes from our real app.
- Your IP address. We use it to limit how many requests one device can make. We don't store it.
“Help improve recipes” (optional)
This is off unless you turn it on. You can turn it on or off any time in Settings > Privacy & Data.
If it's on, we keep:
- Your recipe requests and the recipes made for you
- What you do with them (for example, picked, saved, cooked or deleted)
- Your voice recordings from adding pantry items by voice, and their text
We use this to build and train our own recipe models. The app works the same whether it's on or off.
We keep this data for up to 3 years, then delete it.
If you turn it off, we stop keeping new data straight away. To delete what we already kept, email us (see Your rights).
Why we're allowed to use your data
- To give you the features you ask for. For example, sending your request to make a recipe.
- Our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and working. For example, the random ID and abuse limits.
- Your consent for “Help improve recipes”. You can withdraw it any time.
Who we share data with
We only share data with companies that help us run the app:
- AI service providers: make recipes, turn voice into text, and run AI chef calls
- Cloud hosting providers: run our server and this website, and store data if you turn on “Help improve recipes”
- Security providers: check requests come from our real app
These companies may only use your data to provide their service to us. Email us if you'd like to know who they are.
Some of them are outside the UK, including in the United States. When data leaves the UK, we make sure it is protected by approved safeguards, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK's standard contract terms.
We will never sell your data.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers. Our hosting provider may briefly log basic details, like your IP address, to keep the site running and safe.
Your rights
Under UK law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of your data
- Ask us to correct it
- Ask us to delete it
- Object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it
- Withdraw your consent at any time
Email support@cherrymesh.uk. We reply within one month.
Because there are no accounts, we may ask you a few questions to help us find your data.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
Our apps are not made for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from them. If you think a child has used our app and we hold their data, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data sent from the app is encrypted. We check every request is from our real app. Only people at CherryMesh who need it can see stored data.
Changes to this policy
If we make a big change, we'll tell you in the app. If the change affects “Help improve recipes”, we'll ask for your consent again.
